Ignatian Year Day of Prayer: From Grieving to Living in Hope

St Ignatius invites us to “see all things new in Christ.” This invitation can include every human experience, including the experience of loss.

The experience of loss has many faces, including sadness, sleeplessness, anger, envy, inertia, changes in appetite. It may include some of these or none at all. Sometime we are not aware of the ways in which our losses are affecting us.

The time of Covid-19 has given us many reasons to acknowledge the pain of loss, whether it be the loss of a loved one, an associate at work or school, a close friend, or an acquaintance. We also grieve the loss of something important in our lives: our job, our home, financial security, health, the celebration of special events. Grieving is both a human and a spiritual experience, allowing God’s healing grace to touch us.

This Day of Prayer, "From Grieving to Living in Hope," will offer two presentations, with time for reflection, prayer, and conversation. Led by Frs. Philip Dabney, CSsR, Francis Gargani, CSsR, and Jim Wallace, CSsR. Contact Catherine Heinhold at cheinhold@trinity.org with questions.

In person: We encourage you to attend in person if you are vaccinated and comfortable doing so. We will meet in McKenna Hall on the ground floor of the parish center. Masks will be required. Our plan is to offer lunch in the courtyard/parking lot under a tent if the weather allows. If the weather does not allow an outdoor lunch, we will use Trinity Hall to give us more space.

Online: Those participating online will join in via Zoom and join a small group with others on Zoom. We recommend online participation especially for unvaccinated or vulnerable individuals.

Cost: This day is offered free of charge thanks to the generosity of donors to Holy Trinity's Ignatian Spirituality & Prayer Ministry.

Transportation and Parking:
Public transportation: The G2, D2, and D6 buses (coming from Dupont Circle Metro Station) all have stops close by. From Rosslyn Metro Station, you can catch the 38B or the Rosslyn-Dupont Circle Circulator and get off on M St., NW. The 30-series buses on Wisconsin Avenue have stops that are about a 10-minute walk away from the parish.

Parking will *not* be available at Visitation on November 6th. Most neighborhood streets have a 2-hour limit for those without a Zone 2 sticker.
Free parking will be available at Georgetown University's Lot 9, located at 37th & Prospect Street, NW.
