Funerals
In the face of death, the Church gathers to commend the deceased person to God and to proclaim our hope in Christ’s resurrection. The Funeral Mass is not a private ceremony, but the liturgy of the whole Church, in which we thank God for the gift of the person’s life and entrust them to the Lord. (Order of Christian Funerals [OCF], no. 1) Rooted in Baptism and the Paschal Mystery, these rites offer prayer, Scripture, and Eucharist as sources of comfort and hope. (OCF, nos. 2–7)
Our liturgy team will walk with your family, inviting you to help us choose readings and music that reflect faith and love. We will prepare a printed participation aid so that all present may fully participate in the Mass. Members of our liturgy team will be present at the Mass to direct the liturgy, provide music leadership and a ministry of comfort to you and your family.
