Dear Brothers and Sisters,
We are profoundly saddened to learn of the death of Pope Francis, the first Jesuit Pope who was not only our Holy Father but who we also considered a brother and a friend.
Coming just one day after the Sunday of the Resurrection of the Lord, the mysteries of life and death come into even greater focus.
We have now entered a period of 9 days, the Novendiales, during which we will mourn the loss of this great man who encouraged us to embrace those on the margins.
Our Chapel remains open for prayer throughout the day.
On Wednesday, April 23 we will gather in the Church at 5:30 PM for Mass upon the news of the death of Pope Francis.
On Friday, April 25 we will continue our prayer for Pope Francis with Evening Prayer at 7:00 PM in the Church.
Finally, please find a letter from Rev. Arturo Sosa Abascal, SJ, Superior General of the Society of Jesus, on the occasion of the death of Pope Francis.
Sincerely in Christ,
Rev. C. Kevin Gillespie, S.J.
