Sacramental Records

Holy Trinity records all sacramental celebrations which take place in the parish. Holy Trinity is also the parish of record for sacraments celebrated at Georgetown University. Our records span the life of the parish. In fact, the first wedding in our records dates from January 1, 1795. Our oldest records are archived at the Special Collections Research Center at the Lauinger Library at Georgetown University (https://repository.library.georgetown.edu/handle/10822/556988). The parish is able to provide proof of sacraments celebrated here as well as provide letters to other churches for Holy Trinity parishioners who wish to serve as godparents or sponsors.

Godparent/Sponsor Letters

Often, godparents or sponsors for confirmation are asked to provide a letter stating suitability to act in this role. Registered parishioners should download the appropriate form, read, sign, date and return it via email to Mary Shannon (sacramentalrecords@trinity.org). Include in your email the requesting parish’s contact information and mailing address.

Proof of Baptism or Marriage

If you need a current copy of your baptism or marriage certificate, email your request to Mary Shannon (sacramentalrecords@trinity.org) with an address and a contact name.

Requests may also be mailed to:
