This year, August 15th – the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary – falls on a Saturday. Because it is a Saturday, the Solemnity is not a Holy Day of Obligation this year. (*See note from the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops below)
The 8AM Daily Mass on Saturday, August 15 will mark the Solemnity of the Assumption and will be held in the Church (not the Chapel).
*Whenever January 1, the solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, or August 15, the solemnity of the Assumption, or November 1, the solemnity of All Saints, falls on a Saturday or on a Monday, the precept to attend Mass is abrogated. (USCCB)
