Season of Advent 2020
Beginning the Church's liturgical year, Advent (from, "ad-venire" in Latin or "to come to") is the season encompassing the four Sundays (and weekdays) leading up to the celebration of Christmas. The Advent season is a time of preparation that directs our hearts and minds to Christ’s second coming at the end of time and also to the anniversary of the Lord’s birth on Christmas. The final days of Advent, from December 17 to December 24, focus particularly on our preparation for the celebrations of the Nativity of our Lord. (From usccb.org).

Virtual Giving Tree
In order to receive, wrap, and distribute gifts on time, the Giving Tree took place early this year. Due to your charitable giving, we are going to surpass our original goals for the Giving Tree. Your generosity is boundless, and our partners are so appreciative. Thank you! For those of you who may have missed the virtual Giving Tree and want to give, Holy Trinity's Social Justice Ministry invites you to support these partners:
Christ House. Christ House is receiving gifts for their residents through the Giving Tree. However, their need extend beyond razors, radios and sweatpants. Holy Trinity parishioners have been supporting Christ House with monthly meals for over 25 years. During COVID, the donations from restaurants, stores, and volunteer groups have declined, increasing the cost to feed homeless residents by 40%. Please consider donating to Christ House or stock their shelves from their Amazon Wish List . Your support will enable Christ House to continue to provide compassionate medical care to the homeless in DC.
Housing Up. A new partner to Giving Tree last year, we were not able to support them as we did last year. Consider donating a gift card for a family. For more information about donating, please contact Dillon Ficca.
Maria Madre. In early December, the Maria Madre committee typically joins the St. Jean Baptiste Committee to host parishioners for a day of Christmas shopping to benefit our sister parishes. Unfortunately we can not join together this year. We are asking you to visit the Virtual Giving site where you will be able to "shop" for a food basket for a family ($25), a deluxe basket plus internet ($200), or a teacher basket ($200).
So Others Might Eat Monthly Collection
The final collection of 2020 will be December 19 and will include coats.
