Anniversary Lecture Series
Art & Faith
June, National Gallery of Art
We are blessed in the Nation’s Capital to have access to many wonder museums and exhibits. Many of you may have already heard of the Tintoretto exhibit at the National Gallery of Art (NGA). In honor of the 500th anniversary of his birth, NGA has scheduled many events related to the exhibit. Jacopo Tintoretto was an Italian painter that changed the face of Venetian painting. The vast majority of his paintings are religious and tell religious stories through human figures to help ordinary people understand. We encourage parishioners and friends to visit the three exhibits on Tintoretto:
- Tintoretto: Artist of Renaissance Venice Through July 7, 2019.
- Drawings in Tintoretto's Venice – Through June 9, 2019
- Venetian Prints in the Time of Tintoretto – Through June 9, 2019
In special recognition for Holy Trinity’s 225th Anniversary, we would like to invite parishioners to join one of two lectures featuring a slideshow overview on Tintoretto and the exhibit on June 11 or June 14 at 11:00 am. The lecture will be in the East Building Auditorium led by NGA lecturer Eric Denker. Mr. Denker is a Senior Lecturer at the NGA where he has worked for over 40 years. As you plan your visit, there are additional exhibit materials and films from the NGA to provide context for the exhibit. Visit nga.gov for more information or click here to watch films before your visit:
