Speak the Truth in Love Retreat

An online Ignatian retreat in this election year

As disciples of Jesus we have a mandate to love one another and speak the truth in love. How do we live as loving disciples in the midst of so much vitriolic rhetoric in our political discourse? How do loving disciples of Jesus respond to the outcome of the Nov. 3 election if their candidate wins or loses? Perhaps this retreat will be of help.

Speak the Truth in Love, a week long retreat in daily life, will invite you to revisit the belief that we are all made in the image of God and called to grow into the likeness of Christ. Selected Scripture passages will invite you to consider how risky it is in this political climate to love as Jesus loves. And yet, with courage and humility we embark on speaking with Christ’s voice for justice, reconciliation and peace.

As you ponder whether to make the retreat, we encourage you to look at your calendar and consider where, Monday through Friday, you will carve out 30 minutes each day to pray and 30 minutes each day to meet with a spiritual director.

All our spiritual directors are volunteers and will reserve this week of retreat for you. We ask you to be faithful to your time commitment of praying and meeting with your spiritual director Monday through Friday. Our guides will ‘meet’ virtually, using a variety of platforms, such as Google Meet, FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, and the phone.

Retreatants and spiritual guides will gather online in a Zoom room on Sunday, October 11th from 3:00 - 5:00 pm to open the retreat and again on Saturday, October 17th from 8:30 -10:30 am to close the retreat.
