Tithe Grantees
Holy Trinity's Tithe Grant program (ten percent of parishioner’s’ regular collections) seeks to address root causes of social justice issues both locally and within the global community. This concrete and ongoing commitment to social justice is a priority among Holy Trinity parishioners and its careful and transparent distribution is an important responsibility of the Social Justice Committee. The amount available this year from the pledge and general/holiday offerings is $443,000. Fr. Gillespie and the committee agreed to supplement the total with $70,000 from the Alms/Community Fund, bringing the total funds available to $513,000.
The large grant focus for 2024 is on violence prevention in youth. The committee opted to award grants totaling $100,000 to two organizations: BEST Kids, Inc. ($65,000) and the T.R.I.G.G.E.R. Project ($35,000).
In addition to the large grant theme, each year the committee awards small grants ($5,000- $20,000) to organizations addressing environmental justice, racial justice, refugees/migration, returning citizens, homelessness, and youth. The committee is guided by the Apostolic Preferences: Showing the Way to God; Walking with the Excluded; Journeying with Youth; and Care for Our Common Home. We also award grants to our sister parishes.
We are excited to award grants to 30 organizations - including six new groups.
